PULP urges PSC to condition Citizens merger on expanded Lifeline and better access for low income communities to advanced services (11/20/00)
PULP's Comments to the Federal Communications Commission on Proposed Merger of MCI WorldCom and Sprint, February 17, 2000. PULP opposed the merger on several grounds, including the lack of commitment regarding the merged entity's deployment of advanced telecom services in low-income and rural areas of New York. The proposed merger was withdrawn after federal regulatory opposition.
PULP's Comments to the New York State Public Service Commission on Proposed Merger of MCI WorldCom and Sprint, February 4, 2000. The New York PSC, without opinion, approved the proposed merger. POLP opposed the concentration of long distance and other services, and expressed concerns that the merger would slow deployment of advanced services in low income and rural areas. The proposed merger was withdrawn after it was opposed by Federal and European regulators.
